Puerto Vallarta to host 2012 World Economic Forum |
Puerto Vallarta, August 25 2011 – The World Economic Forum (WEF), officially announced that the World Economic Forum on Latin America 2012 will be held in Puerto Vallarta, April 16-18, 2012. The commitment to celebrate this important event in our city was signed in City of Geneva, Switzerland by Mr. José Antonio Torre, Deputy Secretary for Competitiveness and Corporate Regulatory Mexico; Klaus Schwab, Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum and in the presence of Bruno Ferrari García de Alba, Mexico's Secretary of Economy, Marisol Argueta de Barillas, Senior Director of the World Economic Forum on Latin America and Robert Greenhill, Director General of the World Economic Forum. The event represents an ideal opportunity to bring together business leaders, policy makers, academics and society in general. Puerto Vallarta will be the place to discuss political, social and economic priorities in the region and its impact on the role of Latin America in the world today. "Mexico and Puerto Vallarta in particular have the privilege of hosting major Latin American leaders to rethink the path and accelerate the pace towards prosperity," said Mr. Ferrari García de Alba. The forum also will host the annual meeting of the program named Global Young Leaders. The World Economic Forum is an independent global organization committed to improving conditions in the world by engaging leaders in business, academia and society at large for improvement. Different agencies will celebrate in 2012 important meetings such as the Rio Summit on Sustainable Development in Brazil, the Meeting of the Americas in Colombia, and the Meeting of the United States and Latin America in Chile. Puerto Vallarta is also part of those selected locations receiving the World Economic Forum. |
